Secure Backup - Is It Safe?

Nothing could be more important to us than the security of your valuable information. As the name suggests, our Secure Backup service includes security features at several different levels.

Data Encryption

• To ensure that your data is safe as it travels over the internet it is encrypted before it leaves your computer! It uses a very strong form of encryption called AES and you supply the encryption key.
• Your files remain encrypted even when they are on our servers. The only time they are decrypted is when you restore them onto your computer. Any attempt to restore your files by someone who doesn't have the correct encryption key will fail.
• Our backup equipment uses multiple, mirrored disks to ensure that your data is safe in the event of a hardware failure. Even a failure of the entire hard drive on which your offsite backup is will not stop you from performing a backup or a restore!

• Our equipment is located in a tier-1 computer datacentre. Physical access to the facility is restricted using a combination of security measures including finger print scanning !
• Without power our equipment cannot operate. The datacentre is equiped with it's own power generation equipment capable of providing power to the entire facility for 7 days! All servers are connected to Uninteruptable Power Supplies (UPS) so that they stay operating during the time between the failure of mains power and the start of the generators.
• A highly sophisticated, under-floor cooling system ensures that both the temperature and humidity of the facility are maintained at the correct levels to ensure the reliability of our equipment.
• A complete fire supression system has been installed to ensure that any fire at the facility is extinguished a quickly as possible. The system uses a fire suppression gas known as FM200 to extinguish the fire without damaging the computer equipment!
