Secure Backup - FAQ
|
How does it work?
Our Secure Backup is a combination of a business class backup
software package and our server equipment. Once the backup software is
installed on your computer you can specify which groups of files
you want to backup. You can also define an automatic schedule for your
backups so that they are performed without any action by you at a
specified time of the day.
When your backup software runs, it scans your data to find any
changes that have been made since your last backup. The changes
are compressed and encryped before they are sent to our backup
servers over your broadband Internet connection. Because your
backup is stored on our servers it is safe in the event of fire or
theft at your home or office.
Can anyone access my data?
No. Before the backup software transmits the data to our servers it
encrypts the information with a password that you specify. Your
data is never stored in a readable format on our equipment. If
you need to restore some files that have been backed-up then the
backup software will decrypt the information after it has retrieved
it from our servers.
Am I locked in on a contract?
No! All our services are provided on a month-to-month basis. If
you ever want to cancel your service just let us know before the
end of the month.
Is my Internet connection fast enough?
Because our Secure Backup software compresses you data before it
sends it over the internet you'll be amazed at how fast your
backup will run over normal broadband internet connections.
How do I restore my data if my compter is lost / stolen / destroyed ?
Once you have purchased a new computer, the process for restoring your
information is very simple. Firstly, log into the Support area of our
web site and download a new copy of the Secure Backup software. When
you install and run the Secure Backup software it will ask you for
your username, password, and backup server. If you don't know these
details they are available to you in the Support area. Once the
software has logged into our backup servers simply click on the
retore button to start the restore. That's all there is to it!
